Salary

The MEPs salary is defined in Article 10 of the Single Statute for Members of the Single Statute. This statute establishes a uniform system for the pay and working conditions of EU officials, including MEPs.

As an MEP, I receive a gross monthly salary of €10,377.43, which amounts to €8,089.63 net after deduction of EU taxes and insurance contributions. Additionally, under Danish law, I am subject to national taxes on my gross salary.

Daily subsistence allowance
MEPs also receive a daily subsistence allowance to cover expenses while in Brussels or Strasbourg for official duties. This allowance is a flat rate of €350 per day, intended for costs such as accommodation, meals, and incidental expenses. To receive the full allowance, MEPs must sign a register.
If an MEP misses more than half of the roll-call votes during plenary sessions, the daily allowance is reduced to €175.
